Spare keys pressed into open palms. Promises about breakfast tomorrow. Quiet talk about where to go next while fire burns itself to ash around you. Dishes in the sink. Someone's jacket over a chair. A door left unlocked for whoever comes home last. Do you make plans for a future you're not sure is coming? Do you say when instead of if? ...maybe there is a house by the sea. When this is over, there could be room for one more person in it.
